On a very hot day, I like to pull a chair and sit by our front gate just to catch the breeze. Nowhere else in our apartment has this refreshing wind. If I move further into the lounge or into the kitchen, I will not feel the wind. That spot at my gate is like a gateway to the refreshing wind. And it makes me wonder – what about us, the followers of Jesus?
Psalms 24:7 (The Passion Translation) “So wake up, you living gateways! Lift up your heads, you doorways of eternity! Welcome the King of Glory, for he is about to come through you”
Here it tells us that the people of God are His “Living Gateways”. We carry God’s glory! We have to because He lives inside of us! What is the glory of God? How do we behave like his living gateways? God’s glory can be revealed through us. • The Hebrew word kavod (כָּבוֹד) means weight, heaviness, worth, honor.
• The Greek word doxa (δόξα) means splendor, brightness, majesty, reputation.
👉 Together, the “glory of God” means the visible expression of His invisible attributes—His holiness, power, love, beauty, and majesty.
As living gateways of the Lord, wherever we live, study, work, commute daily to and from home and whoever we are relating to, we can show God’s love, beauty, power and more. I was on a plane and started talking to this young lady seated next to me. I discovered that she was coming to my country for medical treatment. I asked if I can pray for her and she gladly says yes. That was when I showed the love of God. He cares for her enough to put me next to her on her flight to seek for help. I don’t know if she was healed after I have prayed for her, but that is God’s business. I just partnered with His love and allow Him to show His glory (beauty, love, His worth) to this young lady.
Another way we can be the living gateways of God’s glory is whenever we worship Him in spirit and in truth. We are releasing His majestic presence whenever we do that. We are honoring Him, welcoming Him into our living room, our church and where we are accessing His manifest presence. A gateway has exit and entryway. We are both! A door or a gateway allows people to come in and go out. Can you imagine yourself as a mobile or portable door for Jesus? That is exactly what we are. Jesus goes to all the places we go to. So why not let others have a chance of experiencing Him?
I read somewhere (sorry can’t remember which writer says this) “Our spirit is able to dwell in two realms at the same time, but it is the human body that gives us the right to manifest the spirit realm here on the earth. This is because in the beginning God delegated the care of earth to mankind. This also explains why demons want to possess people, it gives them access and authority on the earth. But as children of God we have more power and influence than a demon possessed person.”
If the Lord Jesus has given us the ability and authority to manifest the spirit realm here on earth, I want to show the glory of God. I want to reveal to people and land the awesome wonders of God. Heal the land wherever I am traveling to, touch the people who are depressed, losing hope and need to lift their heads up. My husband, Dave, spoke at the Youth services about the meaning of “lifting our heads”. When we feel shameful or fearful, we find it difficult. When your head is down it is because you are afraid and don’t want to look up and look ahead to what the future holds. Hopelessness causes our head to hang down. (Psalm 34:5) “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” In Christ, we can “Arise, shine, for our light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon us. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon us, and his glory will be seen upon us”. It is the Lord’s glory that has risen upon us and His glory will outshine any darkness that tries to cover us. Praise the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
I am learning to trust the heart of the Lord for me. My future (your future) is much greater than my (your) history, and it’s leading to our destiny. God’s plans for you are good; to prosper us and not harm us, to give us hope and a future. As we trust what God’s words are telling us, we sit ourselves next to Jesus and we operate from all supernatural intelligence. The book of Daniel tells us that our God is the Reveal of mysteries. We are able to receive from heaven and give it out on earth. We are the living gateways or doors of His presence where everything good flows through. This is the path God has qualified us to function in, according to His promises.
King of Glory, we open our lives to You to come through. Lord Jesus be glorified through us. Show Yourself strong through us we pray in the glorious name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
