Be Influenceable

I like the word “Influencer”. It gives me the feel of power over something or someone. This morning I was chewing on the word “Influenceable”.

In order to have output, I believe we need to have some input first. Good input will help us to contribute good output. Do you agree?

I ask myself, what has influenced me? Who has been influencing me? If I want to be an Influencer or a Benefactor to bring hope, life, creativity, joy or peace, I will need to be Influenceable by these traits.

Jesus was Influenceable by His Father. John 5:19-20 “Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these so that you will be amazed.”

Whoever or whatever carries power over our lives will be our “influencer”. We have just arrived back in New Zealand and have been eating most dairy products, potatoes and bread. Hardly any rice these few days and my stomach was beginning to feel a little strange. I realised that my diet has been affected or can I use the word “influenced” by what I have been eating?

What goes into our system will create an impact within us. We do need to be careful what and who we allow us to be influenced by. Are these things or these people we are listening to (could even be through Media from someone whom we have never met before) empowering us? Or are they disempowering us?

I would like to cast a question for you to ponder :-). Do you think Jesus was influenced by the friends of the paralysed man who let him down through the roof so that Jesus can see him and heal him? (Luke 5) What was Jesus influenced by if your answer is “yes”?

Prayer :

Holy Spirit be our greatest Influencer. Father, please help us to be influenceable by those You have given to us to empower us. Break us free from things that bring us harmful influences. We want to be Kingdom Influencers! In Jesus’ powerful name, we declare! Amen!
