Immanuel

Matt 1:23
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”
(which means, God with us).

God is with us. If he is Immanuel and I believe that God is with me, then I am never alone. He is always with me.

Have you ever felt alone? Maybe you felt as if you have been grieving over something and no one will understand. I felt that loneliness in the month is September. I had to spend more time alone with God. I needed His comfort and to hear His voice. I grieved over my loss. In that crying, in that letting go of my grief to the Holy Spirit, it was more of me crying out to God from my heart. He faithfully, graciously listened to me. He simply held me in my tears. And when I was ready to hear what He wants to say to me, He began to speak.

He did not scold me for being a wimp. He lets me feel His love, His comfort. He replaces grief with joy. I had the strength to shake off despair and surrender what was heavy on my heart to Him. I could finally trust Him again.

Friends you are not alone. You don’t have to be alone. Let Him in. If you don’t know Jesus, now is a good time to invite Him to be Immanuel to you – God with you.

And if you are a child of God, He is one spirit with you. “But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him”. (1 Cor 6: 17). He is parenting with you. You have his wisdom. He is your best mate when you need someone to pour your heart to. He has engraved you in the palms of His hands. (Isaiah 49: 16). How can He forget you? (Isaiah 49:15). He has compassion for you.

He is Immanuel, God with us. He has moved into our hood and He is not leaving. He is not afraid of our mess, our problems or our weaknesses. He not only sympathises with us, but He also wants to be involved to get us out where we feel stuck.

Do you have a child who has gone away from you and God? Do you have a business that is not doing well? Do you feel like these COVID Lockdowns are blocking your hope for a future? Are you struggling in focussing on your studies? Whatever your challenges and struggles might be, God is Immanuel. He is with you at the very moment. He is not the God who hopes to be with you or the God who could be with you on a good day. He is Immanuel, God who is with you now in your suffering. One day all these pains will go away. Jesus is with you through thick and thin. You do not need to do life alone.

Prayer:-

Lord Jesus, you are with me. You are God with me. I need you to be my Saviour every day. Save me from depression, sickness, grief and loneliness. I need you to be actively involved in my life, in my highs and my lows. I thank you that you are not scared of my mess. You are not threatened by my tears or fears. You are one with me. You are God Immanuel – God who is with me. Thank you!

I shake off hopelessness in your name, Jesus! I break all heaviness of the enemy over me! God Immanuel, I declare that all my circumstances are in You because You are one with me!
