Imagine there is more than one of you! Not a duplicate, but different versions of you. Can this be possible, you might ask.
I have been pondering about the blessings of our Father to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. (Gen 1:28) “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” God has given us, mankind the ability to reproduce. We can reproduce through giving birth, or adoption or reproducing spiritual children.
We are blessed by Father to be fruitful and multiple. The end goal is to have dominion over the earth. This blessing was given before the fall of man. The wonderful truth is that God gave us an upgrade in the new covenant in Christ. (Ephs 1:3-6) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love, he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.”
We are not only given the power to be fruitful and multiply, but in Christ, we have the authority to both subdue the earth and heavenly places. How are we to do this, considering that we can’t live on this earth forever? As we read through the promises of God to Abraham, we can come to the understanding that :
- While it needed Abraham and Sarah’s cooperation, this promise of God for Abraham to be the father of a multitude only needed one seed (Isaac) from them.
- God’s blessings to us will go on for years to come.
- Father is very interested in “Family”.
With the above insights, we should be mindful of what we are reproducing. We are a huge Contributor. We are “more than one”.
Can you imagine the many versions of you bringing God’s glory to the ends of the world? You can be extended by God in versions that your mind cannot comprehend. Did Abraham see the versions of him coming through Issac when Father gave him the promise the first time? And did he sees the Messiah, Jesus coming through his bloodline to save the world? I am not sure. He might have in the visions God gave him.
If you are tempted to think that you are not a very suitable candidate for this multiplication process, please read the genealogy of Jesus Christ. In between Abraham and our Lord Jesus, there were some candidates that if we are given the freedom to vote, we might not have chosen them. There were liars, murderers, connivers and a former prostitution, amongst other colourful characters. Someone once said, “our past does not define our future”. It is true unless we allowed it to.
Imagine with God about your futures and then imagine some more how your many futures would look like in their futures. You are More Than One! There are many generations of upgrades of you. God’s multiplication miracles are in you. You are destined to be fruitful and multiple.
Prayer :
Father give us your imagination of what our futures can look like. Excite us with the thought of your potential in us.
